Copies of the book, some in large print, are available at the Circulation Desk. You can also click on the cover and place a request online. For most titles, the book is available on CD or tape and can be requested through the online catalog or with the assistance of a librarian. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. No long-term commitment needed – come when you can. Light refreshments are served.
WPL BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP

The Group meets at 7 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room. Meetings are on the third Monday of each month from September through November, (no meeting in December), and from January through June. The meeting is shifted to Tuesday when the third Monday is a holiday. Members of the group receive notification of the books and dates, but anyone who has read the book is welcome to drop in. Generally books are available at the Circulation Desk approximately a month before the group's meeting date. You can also click on the cover to find the title in the catalog and place a request online.Group members choose the books to read, the Library supplies the books, and the discussion is informal. The spring meeting will be on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. The title has not been selected yet.
PARENTING BOOK GROUP
Thursday, January 19, 2012 (snow date Wed. Jan. 25) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to discuss
The Way of Boys: Raising Healthy Boys in a Challenging and Complex World by Anthony Rao and Michelle Seaton.
The Library and Parent to Parent are jointly offering several parenting book discussions. Join us on Thursday, January 19 at 7 p.m. in the Library Meeting Room.
Rao offers an urgent call to parents, educators, pediatricians, and other developmental experts to stop over-medicating active boys and to cease treating boyhood as an illness, teaching parents how to rear their sons with respect for their natural development. It is not necessary to have read the book to participate in this supportive discussion.
Copies of the book will be available on loan through the Library (ask at the Circulation Desk for book club books) and there will be copies for purchase at a discount at BookEnds (mention the book group).
