Read, Meet, Greet: An International Book Group -- meets next on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m.
We will discuss Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie. 197 p.
This is a novel about two city boys exiled to a remote mountain village for re-education during China’s Cultural Revolution. The novel is short and there’s an available movie of the story which was written and directed by the author.
This book raises many topics for discussion (see ReadingGroupGuides.com), and the film offers many beautiful images of China and is true to the story.
Copies will be available at the Circulation Desk one month before the meeting. You can also place a request online at any time.
